Know Farmers, Know Food. No Farmers, No Food.
We are lucky to do what we love for a living. We farm and we make ice cream. I recently saw a post on Facebook about No Farmers, No Food. This got me thinking. The gap between rural and urban is widening everyday. When we attended school most kids came from the farm. Today is a much different picture. This is one of the reasons we started making ice cream and became a processor. We need to educate people as much as we can about farms and where their food actually comes from. Did you know dairy farms in Canada are family owned? Ours is second generation and we hope to pass along the tradition of dairy farming to our children. If you don't own a farm or have ever been to a farm we recommend you visit one. Talk to a farmer, see where your food comes from. Ask questions. You can do this on Manitoba Open Farm Day, Sept. 15th, 2013. Drop by and say hi!
